And the Show Goes On!

Havens students support Bay Area Children’s Theater.

On October 1, Havens Community Service Crew students helped create signs for seating in the theaters. Students were hole-punching, tying strings and sorting the 356 signs needed for Bay Area Children’s Theater (BACT) to start reserved seating. All this to the music of the upcoming Frog and Toad Musical!

Becca, the Director of the Youth Education Program and co-founder of BACT, said “The Havens Community Service Crew is so impressive. The kids worked really hard and were dedicated to the projects.” Everyone kept busy and on task. The best part was watching the kids work together to get the project done in the short time we had.

Some of the students sorted through the Havens’ Lost and Found, identifying and labeling items with names on them. The other items were folded and donated to BOSS homeless shelter in Berkeley. “There’s so much stuff here!” exclaimed 2nd grader Eva and she pulled out item after item of clothes.

“As a Haven’s mom who also works in the non-profit sector, I am thrilled to be a part of a community that values service projects,” says Becca. Havens Community Service Crew offers monthly after school projects like this one and monthly weekend projects to all students.
