East Bay MUD Officials Respond to Water Main Break in Oakland
Fifty customers in the area, including at two apartment complexes, are without water while the cast iron main from 1924 is repaired.

East Bay Municipal Utility District officials responded this morning to a water main break on High Street in Oakland, according to a district spokeswoman. Crews received reports of the incident at 10 a.m. between Pampas Avenue and Tompkins Avenue, EBMUD spokeswoman Tracie Morales said.
At about 10:20 a.m., an investigator arrived at the scene. Upon inspection, the investigator discovered a 6-inch cast iron main from 1924 had broken, according to Morales. At 11:15 a.m., district officials decided to shut down service to more than 50 customers in the area, including at two apartment complexes.
EBMUD officials estimated as of noontime that the residences will be without water for several hours as crews work on repairing the break.
