Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles will open up its new expanded space at its Grand Opening featuring refreshments, music, prizes and amazing deals on Saturday, October 10th from 10 am to 6 pm. A project of the African People’s Education & Defense Fund, the nonprofit’s president, Ona Zene Yeshitela will be presenting as well as Chairman Omali Yeshitela, the leader of the Uhuru Movement. With the prize giveaway and the President and Chairman’s presentation starting at 2 pm.
It is a tremendous achievement for UFC to have thrived for a quarter of a century as an African working class-led program for economic self-reliance.

APEDF is opening up “Akwaaba Hall” for community rentals and is hosting a Grand Opening on Friday, October 9th from 6-9pm at 7911 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland. Akwaaba Hall is also hosting a forum On Sunday, October 11th from 1-3pm, titled “African Working Class - Push for Economic Development” discussing the importance of Africans ourselves building our own African independent economy. Presenting at all three events is keynote speaker Omali Yeshitela, the chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party and APEDF president, Ona Zene Yeshitela.

APEDF is also in the process of opening Uhuru Jiko Community Kitchen and kicking off a workforce development project through Uhuru Jiko to provide employment and training especially to those in the African community who have faced incarceration and experience drastically limited opportunities to contribute to their families and communities.
