Holiday Cheer

Holiday cards, winter poems, and carols lit up Piedmont Gardens on Saturday, December 7. Havens Community Service Crew brought fifteen students from Havens, representing every grade from kindergarten through fifth, along with their parents, a few siblings, and first-grade teacher Helen Brown to the local retirement community.

The kids first presented each resident with a couple of hand-made holiday cards that were created by students who took part in the Tuesday after-school volunteer activity.  The cards were absolutely lovely and brought smiles to the faces of the Piedmont Gardens residents.

After distributing the cards, the kids chatted and visited with the elderly and tried to lift their spirits with a little conversation.  They then went on to perform a number of holiday carols (Frosty, Rudolph, Jingle Bells, etc.) that the audience really seemed to enjoy and appreciate.  In addition, fifth-grader Graham Reicher surprised the crowd with a juggling act that left them wanting more!  The morning ended with refreshments for the kids for a job well done.
