Oakland Homeless Camp Catches Fire

OAKLAND, CA -- A smoky fire burned a homeless camp under Interstate Highway 580 and briefly shut down the eastbound offramp to Harrison Street in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fire, reported about 9:30 a.m., burned the camp and trees, but no injuries were reported, said CHP Officer Herman Baza.
The ramp was closed, but reopened at 10:30 a.m.
