Oakland Murder Victim Identified
The man was gunned down Sunday in one of two shootings just minutes apart.
A man who was fatally shot in Oakland late Sunday afternoon was identified by police today as 36-year-old Michael Grant.
Police said they received a report of a possible gunshot in the 3600 block of Webster Street at 5:27 p.m. Sunday, but officers who went to that location weren’t able to locate any victims. However, police were then advised by a hospital that a shooting victim, later identified as Grant, had been dropped off there by an unknown person.
Grant suffered from at least one gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries, police said. No one has been arrested for the fatal shooting and police haven’t released any information about suspects or a possible motive.

Oakland police said their investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone with information should call their homicide unit at (510) 238-3821.
Grant was fatally shot in the same area of Webster Street, near Mosswood Park, where 23-year-old Donzale Mejia of Oakland was fatally shot at 12:20 p.m. on Nov. 19. That case is also still unsolved.
