Oakland’s Latest Mixed Use Residential and Office Projects Seeking Approval

The CIM group, a full service urban real estate and infrastructure fund manager with about $19,2 billion of assets under management, is seeking approval for two new and separate projects in Oakland. The first is for an office tower near Kaiser Plaza, which is across from Lake Merrit, near the 19th Street BART and the popular Uptown District, and the second is for two mixed-use residential housing located in Jack London Square. According to city documents, the proposal for 2 Kaiser Plaza is for 44 the thousand square feet site, which is located at 325 22nd Street. Currently home to a parking lot, it would be replaced by an office building and ground-level retail. The CIM Group is presenting two options for the project. The first would be 19 stories of office, ground-floor retail and 3 levels of parking. The second option is twice as big with 34 stories, ground-floor retail and 5 levels of parking.
The Jack London Square location proposal includes two separate projects. The first is an eight story building with 121 residential units, retail, and 64 parking spaces. The second site is located between Harrison and Alice Streets, and is also an eight story building, with 326 residential units, retail and 86 parking spots.

The Jack London Square projects should be attractive to Millennials, who desire proximity to public transit and job areas, as well as having an affinity for community with a neighborhood feel, and are less concerned about parking.(2) The World Class Piedmont Estate, located at 395 Hampton road in Piedmont is currently offered for sale at $7,995,000.
