
OAKLAND, CA - A male pedestrian running across southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau, was struck at about 9:20 p.m. near Oak Street.
The CHP received reports about a pedestrian on northbound Highway 880, then shortly afterward received additional calls that he was struck on the southbound side of the highway. Investigators learned that the male ran from the northbound side to the southbound side and was struck by a white Honda driving south. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the CHP is still working to determine why he was on the highway.

The Honda driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
