Piedmont Firefighters Saving Homes in Santa Cruz Mountains Fire
Alameda County, Piedmont and Fremont firefighters deployed Monday night, just hours after the flames broke out.
SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS, CA - The roaring forest fire that broke out Monday afternoon in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Loma Fire, has already burned close to 3,000 acres. Although 300 homes are threatened, just one home has burned so far, along with six outbuildings. The home that was lost is actually the point of origin of the fire--the house fire spread to vegetation and quickly took off.
Among the brave firefighters battling the flames to save homes is Strike Team XAL 2006F, consisting of firefighters from the Alameda County, Piedmont and Fremont Fire Departments.
According to Alameda County Fire, which shared the photos above, the strike team worked side-by-side with Cal Fire to save the home shown.
