Piedmont Students To Join Nationwide School Protest Wednesday

The students will protest for 17 minutes - one minute for every student killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

PIEDMONT, CA —One month after the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School left 17 people dead, students in Piedmont will take part in a nationwide effort to push lawmakers to come up with "common sense gun control laws" and to remember the victims. Thousands of schools, including many in the East Bay, are expected to participate in the student demonstrations Wednesday morning.

Piedmont Police issued statement late Tuesday afternoon, which read, "The Piedmont Police Department is aware of the plan of Piedmont Middle School students to march in the Civic Center Area on Wednesday, March 14th at approximately 10:00 AM.

"The Piedmont Police Department is working to facilitate the safe movement of any march that may occur. Streets may be temporarily closed to ensure safety. Please use caution while driving in the Civic Center area Wednesday morning."
