Planning Commission Looks at Second Units Again

Tonight's meeting will include staff reports, discussion and public testimony on how to promote second units at different income levels, but no final action

Piedmont, like cities throughout the Bay Area, is under pressure by the state to finalize plans for how it will accommodate its "fair share" of the region's housing needs, including housing for different income levels.

That's a big challenge in a city with almost no vacant land.

Tonight (Dec. 12) the Piedmont Planning Commission will continue to wrestle with the issue as it considers possible changes to the city's rules on second units ("in-law apartments").
