Police, FBI Arrest Alleged Gang Members, Seize Guns and Drugs
Authorities seized four firearms, 10 pounds of marijuana plants, three ounces of cocaine and one ounce of heroin, police said.
Police seized weapons and narcotics and arrested several alleged gang members in Oakland early this morning in a joint operation with the FBI. Police served the multiple search warrants at different locations throughout the city, focusing on suspects who were involved in several violent crimes, according to police.
During the searches, authorities seized four firearms including an assault rifle with a 100-round drum, 10 pounds of marijuana plants, three ounces of cocaine and one ounce of heroin, police said.
Through the city’s Operation Ceasefire program, police gave the alleged gang members the opportunity to take services the city provides that would help them get jobs and access education, according to police. The alleged gang members chose not accept the services and 15 people were detained. Many of them were ultimately arrested, police said.
