Protesters March Through Oakland To Protest Trump Inauguration
Some 1,000 marchers were peaceful.

OAKLAND, CA — Oakland joined the ranks of Bay Area cities hosting protests against the inauguration of President Donald Trump. About 1,000 marchers participated.
Protesters started gathering for the "march of the working class" at about noon in the Latham Square area at Telegraph Avenue and Broadway. They had circled up Telegraph to 27th Street and headed back down Broadway. Many children are present at the peaceful protest.

Oakland resident Clark Allen said he attended because "For me it's an act of solidarity. It's a therapeutic response to something that frightens us."

Police mostly held back, trailing the crowd in cars, on motorcycles and bicycles and blocking traffic on side streets as the protesters marched passed.
