Shots Fired From Suspected Oakland Grow House

A SWAT team was sent to the home.

A man suspected of firing shots from an East Oakland house that has a marijuana grow operation surrendered to police this morning after a standoff with police, authorities said.

Officers went to the house in the 2200 block of East 24th Street at about 3 a.m. after receiving an alert indicating there was gunfire in the area, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a suspect or suspects had tried to enter the house, according to police.

A SWAT team was sent to the residence and eventually officers were able to make contact with the man who was inside. Shortly before 9 a.m., he surrendered and spoke with officers, police said.

When officers entered the home, they discovered a marijuana grow operation inside, according to police.
