Spring planting and the season begins.....

My housemate told me about a half price sale on all plants  at the nursery up the street.  I needed to finish planting my veggie garden.  So I got a couple tomato plants, another bell pepper plant, a second eggplant, some red onions, pole beans. It was a beautiful, warm day and I was going to garden.  Plant vegetables.  I even transplanted a couple of sunflower seedlings that had sprouted in my earthworm castings.  I believe in packing in the plants. Not everybody does.   Space is limited.  My garden is off and running.

The thing about my garden is the soil.  I'm used to beautiful clay soil in my veggie gardens but now I have a store bought sandy soil.  Not even beautiful sandy soil.  It is my duty to make this sandy soil beautiful.  It sure is easy to dig in.  But what about worms.  I know they will find my soil.  But I think store bought soils generally do not have worms in them.  There must be a place to buy earthworms. So much to know.  Its a long season ahead.

So this is my first blog.  Does that mean someone out there is going to read this?  And find it at least interesting.

Growing food is a wonderful thing, There is a political angle to growing your own food.  It's about the soil....and the universe.
