For the next four weeks, Bay Area baseball fans will have a little extra incentive to roll up their sleeves and donate blood with the American Red Cross.
From August 19 through September 15, 2013, all presenting whole blood and double red cell donors at any Red Cross donor center or mobile blood drive in the Northern California Region can enter drawings to win autographed baseball memorabilia – signed by various professional baseball players from around the country.
Drawings will be held each day of the promotion to give away the nearly 200 items – which includes baseballs, bats and batting gloves. At the conclusion of the promotion, all participating donors also will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win one of two grand prizes – either an autographed San Francisco Giants jersey or an autographed Oakland Athletics jersey.
Memorabilia includes items signed by Santiago Casilla, Alberto Callaspo, Albert Pujols, Nelson Cruz, Miguel Tejada, Leonys Martin, Octavio Dotel and Ervin Santana (among others).
Additionally, the Red Cross is giving away baseball-themed T-shirts to all whole blood and double red cell donors at any donor center in the region during the same time period.
Individuals who are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), meet height and weight requirements (at least 110 pounds based on height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
