Wind Advisory for Piedmont, East Bay in Effect Until Noon

Officials say freezing temperatures are possible tonight and on New Year's Day.

The National Weather Service has a Wind Advisory in effect for the San Francisco Bay Area until noon today. Strong northerly winds are expected across the area through midday.

A cold and dry storm system that swept through the Bay Area Tuesday is expected to continue to produce strong and gusty north to northeast winds across the Bay Area and Santa Cruz County through this morning. Freezing temperatures across inland portions of the San Francisco Bay Area and Monterey Bay Area are possible late tonight and into Thursday morning.

Morning winds are expected to be out of the northeast at 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts.
