UPDATE: CHP Investigating Fatal Shooting on I-80 in Pinole

All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 have reopened this morning following a fatal shooting in Pinole, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers responded around 11 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a shooting on the highway near Pinole Valley Road and located two victims, a man and a woman, in an Audi and suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the CHP.

The victims were transported to the hospital, but the man died as a result of his injuries. All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 were closed for several hours so investigators could collect evidence and process the scene, according to the CHP. Investigators said it appears the shooting was not random. There have been no arrests made in the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident or who saw anything suspicious in the area around 11 p.m. Tuesday is asked to call the CHP at 1-800-TELL-CHP or (510) 450-3821.

The California Highway Patrol this morning has issued a Sig-alert on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Pinole due to police activity following a fatal shooting late Tuesday night. A man and a woman in an Audi were found shot. CHPofficials say the man has since died and the woman is being treated at a local hospital.

The incident initially blocked all eastbound lanes of the highway west of Pinole Valley Road, but two lanes have since reopened, according to the CHP. Commuters are advised to use caution and expect delays in the area. The CHP first reported the incident around 11:15 p.m.
