Missing Woman Found Safe in Berkeley

Gladys Gamter was believed to be in the area near the city of El Cerrito.

Sheriff’s deputies located a woman in Berkeley who was missing since Sunday morning from Contra Costa County, Contra Costa County sheriff’s officials said. Gladys Gamter was found safe at about 5 p.m. She was well and on her way home, sheriff’s officials said.

Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help this morning locating an at-risk woman last seen in the El Sobrante area of unincorporated Contra Costa County Saturday night. Gladys Gamter was last seen was last seen at Del Norte BART at 9:30 a.m., according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

She’s described as a 78-year-old black woman standing 5 feet 9 inches tall at 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Gamter was last seen wearing a purple hat, blue fleece jacket, white sweater, red pants and silver shoes. She’s considered at-risk due to her age and medical conditions.

According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Gamter may be in the area near the city of El Cerrito. Deputies are asking residents in the vicinity of El Sobrante to check their backyards and open areas around their homes.
