Contra Costa County Gun Buy Back This Weekend
County residents will be able to trade guns for gift cards on Saturday, up to $350 per weapon.

An anonymous gun buyback program is being held this weekend in Pittsburg, police announced Thursday.
Contra Costa County residents can turn in firearms Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Pittsburg City Hall at 65 Civic Ave., Pittsburg police said.

Although people will be asked for proof that they are county residents, police said they will remain anonymous and officers will not be checking for warrants.
Payment will be received in the form of Target gift cards, which were supplied by the company for this program.

The payment ranges from up to $50 for non-operable guns to up to $350 for assault weapons.
Those wishing to participate are asked to transport the firearms unloaded and in the trunk of vehicles.
Police are asking people to call (925) 252-4811 for information about the program.
