Council Incumbent Swearingen Takes Out Papers for Re-election

Pinole Councilman indicates he might run for a new four-year term.

Pinole City Councilman Roy Swearingen on Monday requested nomination papers to run for another term on Nov. 6, according to Pinole City Clerk Patricia Athenour.

Swearingen won a seat on the five-member council in 2008. His term, and that of current Mayor Peter Murray, expire in this year. Murray told Pinole Patch on Monday that he has yet to make a final decision on whether to run again. Murray has served on the council for 20 years.

The council incumbents face an Aug. 10 deadline to file for re-election. If either one of them choose not to file for another four-year term, the filing period for non-incumbent other candidates would be extended to Aug. 15.
