Ed Fund Scholarship Applications Due

Application Deadline March 5

Current high school seniors attending a West Contra Costa Unified School District school who have completed their FAFSA or California Dream Act Application and have a 2.5 GPA are eligible to apply for an Ed Fund college scholarship. This year the Ed Fund will be awarding scholarships ranging from $1,000-$5,000 to selected high school seniors. Apply by March 5 at www.edfundwest.org/Our-scholarships.


The Ed Fund provides scholarships to West Contra Costa Unified School District high school seniors who demonstrate financial need and have a strong desire to positively impact their community. Since 2005, the Ed Fund has awarded over one million dollars in scholarships to nearly 400 students. With the support of the College Access Foundation of California, Irene S. Scully Foundation, Irvine Foundation, Arthur & Norma Schroeder, Wells Fargo Foundation, and the Whittier Foundation, the Ed Fund awarded $210,000 in college scholarships to 80 graduating high school seniors from 9 different West Contra Costa County public high schools in the spring of 2014. Currently, these students are enrolled in 30 colleges across the nation.


The Ed Fund, West Contra Costa’s Public Education Fund, is an education nonprofit serving the entire West Contra Costa Unified School District, which spans the five East Bay cities of Richmond, El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole and San Pablo. It is committed to providing the funding and strategic partnerships needed to close the opportunity and achievement gap for our students.

Founded in 1983 in response to the decline in funding to public education caused by the passage of Proposition 13, today the Ed Fund has a budget of more than a million dollars, which is raised through private donations and grants, and manages several different programs, including College Access, Out-of-School Time, Scholarships, Impact Grants, and Professional Development.
