El Cerrito Man Arrested, Accused Of Striking Son With Car During Family Dispute
The incident occurred near the family's jewelry store. The son plans to move out of family home.

Sausalito police arrested an El Cerrito man Thursday for allegedly striking his son with his car during a family dispute, a police lieutenant said.
The 26-year-old son, who was living with his family, and his parents had a long lasting dispute about lifestyle issues, Lt. Bill Fraass said. On Thursday, the son requested a Sausalito police officer to stand by when he went to get his 2006 Infiniti from his parents’ possession around 4 p.m. at the family’s jewelry store business in the 600 block of Bridgeway in Sausalito, Fraass said.
The Infiniti was registered in the son’s name and the parents took it to Sausalito without his permission, Fraass said.

The Infinity was parked at the family’s business when Officer Davin Rose arrived, but the father, 53-year-old Shalom Makaran, was not there, Fraass said.
Makaran drove up to the business in his 2009 Infinity while Rose was talking to other family members, and when he saw his son walking on a sidewalk on Bridgeway he turned his vehicle toward his son, accelerated and struck him, Fraass said.

The son landed on the hood of his father’s car and fell to the ground, Fraass said. He was not injured.
Rose arrested Makaran on suspicion of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. Makaran posted $50,000 bail and was released from the Marin County Jail, Fraass said.
Sausalito police did not release the son’s name because he is a crime victim, and the son plans to move out of the family’s home, Fraass said.
