Emergency Evacuation Routes In City of Hercules

If there were a need to evacuate any part of the City, it is likely that would first be a "Voluntary Evacuation."

October 27, 2020

With the fire season extended, we have heard from some in the community about what they would need to know in the event of an evacuation. If we were to experience a fire or any other emergency situation, we would have activated our Emergency Operation Center and your City staff would be actively monitoring the situation and would be sharing information. If there were a need to evacuate any part of the City, it is likely that would first be a “Voluntary Evacuation.” If you are in a Voluntary Evacuation area, we would encourage you to evacuate as soon as possible to avoid congested roads or perhaps even having to use some of the designated secondary or alternative evacuation routes. If a “Mandatory Evacuation” order is issued, you must evacuate and comply with orders from Police and other City staff to do so. Attached is a map which shows the designated evacuation routes, secondary routes, and alternative routes. If the secondary or alternate routes are needed, City staff would be on-site to ensure they are open and available, and to assist in the evacuation effort. While we hope we can avoid the need to ever have to evacuate, we hope that this information is helpful in case you ever have to do so.
