Hercules sponsors a citywide clean up day, in which residents help in cleaning up yards, sidewalks, parks, and community. This is a free event for Hercules residents only. Each household is allowed one vehicle load of household trash to be dumped. No vehicles larger than a pickup truck, or moving vans of any kind are allowed. Space is limited. Each resident will only be allowed to enter the dumpster site once and must bring proof of residency. With the holiday season around the corner, the city encourages everyone who will be coming to the Clean-Up Day to bring at least two items from the list below; the holidays are a season of escalated demand for our local food banks.

- Canned Fruit & Vegetables
- Canned Meats and Fish
- Peanut Butter
- Pasta
- Beans
- Rice
- Canned Soup (low-salt)
- Low-sugar Cereal and Oatmeal
- Tomato Sauce
- Powdered Milk
