Firefighter, Resident Injured In El Sobrante Fire
Firefighters battled the flames Sunday evening.

EL SOBRANTE, CA —Unattended food left on a stove led to a fire Sunday afternoon in El Sobrante that injured a firefighter and one other person, a fire marshal said.
The fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of San Pablo Dam Road, Fire Marshal Robert Marshall said.
When firefighters arrived, they found the rear of a single-story home covered in flames and smoke coming from the entire house.

Marshall said the home had a lot of items in it, which made it hard for firefighters to find the seat of the fire, but in 30 minutes the fire was under control.
It caused about $300,000 of damage, Marshall said.

The injured firefighter suffered a wound to one of his legs that was not life-threatening. "It's a serious injury but he's expected to recover," Marshall said.
