Golf Tournament and Dinner Seeks Players, Sponsorships
The event will raise funds for the Pinole Recreation Department.

The second annual Pinole Recreation Golf Tournament is seeking players and sponsors in a fundraiser for the city's recreation department.
The tournament, at the Franklin Canyon Golf Course, will be followed by a barbecue dinner at the Pinole Senior Center is scheduled for July 16. The dinner is open to both tournament players and non-golfers.
Tournament entry fees are $115 per person or a discounted rate of $425 per foursome. It includes green fees, golf cart, box lunch, 18 holes of golf and the dinner. Players will compete in a $5,000 hole-in-one contest, $1,000 closest to the pin contest, and a $15,000 final shootout. The format is a best ball scramble.

Players and diners can purchase raffle tickets for prizes to be awarded at the dinner.
The tournament also is seeking hole sponsors and skills competition sponsors.

The Pinole Recreation Department, which oversees youth, senior and community events, along with the Pinole Swim Center, depends on donations, fees and fundraisers to cover its budget. Last year, the golf tournament raised about $5,800 for recreation programs and services.
