Has the City Lost Sight of Its Vision?

A recent local blog post raised the question.

The Hercules City Council abandoned its vision for Hercules when it voted to sell off city-owned properties to outside developers last week, said a recent Waterfront Watch post entitled, "Council abandons vision amid confusion, despair."

"It may be unfair to say that the city council this evening abandoned the vision for the city — a walkable town center, transit-oriented, mixed-use, parks, open space, trails — because honestly it is very likely they never shared that vision. (This may be more true for some than others)," Waterfront Watch said.

Among the city sites sold were the troubled Sycamore North and Parcel C. is slated to become high-end apartment complex with businesses, mainly restaurants, on the ground floor. Parcel C and Victoria Cresent, another of the city's lots, were sold to residential developers.
