Hercules Police Report Smash-And-Grab Car Burglaries at 2 Starbucks on Tuesday

Customers at separate Starbucks locations in Hercules found their cars had been broken into while they waited for their coffee on Tuesday morning, police said today.
A man parked his 1991 Mercedes in the parking lot of a Starbucks at 842 Willow Ave. around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, went inside the coffee shop and returned to his car about five minutes later to find a rear passenger window had been smashed and a laptop computer had been stolen, police said.
A similar burglary was reported about half an hour later in the parking lot of a Starbucks at 3700 San Pablo Avenue, according to police. Police said the victim locked his Honda Pilot and went into the café around 7:35 a.m. and when he exited moments later, saw his car’s rear passenger window broken and a bag containing a laptop, Beats headphones and several checkbooks gone.

No suspects or witnesses were identified in connection with either of the burglaries. The same type of smash-and-grab car burglary was reported at the San Pablo Avenue Starbucks on July 21. In that burglary, a man parked his Fiat 500 in the parking lot and returned about five minutes later to find one of the car windows broken and a backpack containing personal documents stolen.
