The victim said she had just arrived home, exited her vehicle and was closing the garage door when she was confronted by three men armed with guns. The suspects forced her into the house, where they confronted her husband as well, and demanded “the money.” The husband complied and gave them cash out of fear for his and his wife’s safety.
The husband had spent the previous night gambling at Casino 580 in Livermore. After winning an undisclosed amount of money, he took a cab home and fell asleep in a downstairs bedroom, leaving the cash beside him in a bag. The robbery occurred several hours later.
Investigators from the Pleasanton Police Department and California Department of Justice Bureau of Gambling Control conducted an extensive follow up investigation. The investigation revealed that Bailey and Stokes were at Casino 580 during the time the victim was gambling. They watched the victim throughout the night as he won a large amount of money and followed him home at around 6:30 a.m. Bolden was called during this time and met up with Bailey and Stokes.
The home invasion robbery occurred approximately six hours later. During the robbery, one of the suspects dropped his cellular smart phone inside the victim’s home. The phone was located during the initial investigation. It was determined to belong to Jakari Bolden. The investigation revealed Bolden had returned to Pleasanton with Rucker and one other subject and committed the robbery.
On October 24, 2013, multiple Bay Area agencies assisted the Pleasanton Police Department in the service of search and arrest warrants in Oakland and Hercules, at the homes of Bolden, Bailey, and Stokes. All three suspects were taken into custody at that time. On November 6, 2013, Rucker was arrested at his home in Antioch.
