Letter to the Editor: Duran On Election Results

We are very thankful that the people of Hercules saw fit to pass Measures O and N.  These measures will help establish fiscal stability.  Measure O will contribute about $500,000 to the general fund each year for four years and that should enable the City to maintain current levels of police services.  Measure N will allow the City to sell Hercules Municipal Utility, which has been a money loser for the City.

The magnitude of the vote in favor of these measures is humbling and, I think, it represents a vote of confidence in our new City Council, which has worked so hard over the last year to get Hercules on the right track.  I am confident that the City Council and staff will use this extra funding prudently and continue to go the extra mile for the community.
