Local Fire Departments Band Together to Douse Apartment Building Fire

The Rodeo-Hercules Fire District and Pinole Fire Department sent crews.

Firefighters doused a fire in a multi-family residence in Rodeo on Saturday that may have been caused by an electrical equipment failure, fire officials said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a fire in a two-story apartment building, located at 430 First St. in Rodeo, at 11:23 a.m., fire officials said.

Upon arrival, fire officials said crews found smoke and flames coming from the first floor apartment building that was threatening to extend into the adjoining apartments.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before it spread past the first floor, fire officials said.

The occupant of the first-floor apartment was not home at the time but arrived after the fire.

Fire officials said American Red Cross workers assisted him.

An electrical equipment failure is suspected to be the cause of the fire, officials said.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The Rodeo-Hercules Fire District, Pinole Fire Department, Contra Costa County Fire District, the Crockett-Carquinez Fire District, PG&E, the Contra Costa County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol responded to the fire, officials said.
