Local Firefighters Receive New Safety Equipment

HERCULES and PINOLE, CA —With funding obtained through a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant, the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District, City of Pinole Fire Dept. and East Contra Costa Fire District will receive new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.

The equipment is a key component of their Personal Protective Equipment, vital when entering hazardous environments. This includes house fires, where toxic fumes are given off as some household products burn.

The old equipment is expected to be used in training situations, or as back-up equipment.
