Man Arrested for Setting off Fireworks in Hercules to Celebrate Giants' Win
Police say the man used a rocket-type firework in the 1000 block of Canterbury Drive.

A man was arrested in Hercules over the weekend after shooting off what police described as “dangerous fireworks” to celebrate the San Francisco Giants’ winning Game 4 of the World Series, police said Monday. Officers responded around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday to a report of shots fired and a woman screaming in the 1000 block of Canterbury Drive, according to police.
Police said officers arrived to find a 33-year-old man on the street lighting a rocket-type firework, which shot into the sky and exploded, police said. A woman was not found. The man told officers he was celebrating the Giants’ win that night. He was cited for several Health and Safety Code violations, including possession of dangerous fireworks, and released.
Police confiscated the man’s remaining stash of fireworks from a backpack and booked them into evidence for destruction.
