Man Critically Injured In El Sobrante Shooting
Deputies believe that the victim was shot on Valley View Road.

EL SOBRANTE, CA — A Richmond resident is in critical condition following a shooting Monday night in the unincorporated Contra Costa County community of El Sobrante, sheriff's officials said today.
Deputies were sent at 10:06 p.m. to the 4200 block of Valley View Road near Appian Way after someone called to say a shooting occurred.
Sheriff's officials said when deputies arrived, they found evidence of a shooting nearby and indications that someone had been shot or injured.

Deputies also learned that a vehicle sped away from the area.
Before deputies left, they learned that a victim of a shooting had been found by California Highway Patrol officers on westbound Interstate Highway 80 at San Pablo Avenue. Sheriff's officials said a vehicle had crashed there and the Richmond resident was suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 27-year-old victim was taken to a hospital. Deputies believe that the victim was shot earlier on Valley View Road.
