Miss Contra Costa County 2015 Crowned
Miss Contra Costa County Angela Laird Sings Her Way to the Crown Will Go On To Represent Contra Costa County at Miss California Competition

San Ramon, CA – On Saturday, October 04, 2014, Angela Laird was crowned Miss Contra Costa County 2015 and awarded a $750 scholarship at the California High School Theater. Her talent was a vocal piece to “Over the Rainbow.” Laird is a graduate of Sonoma State University and her career ambition is to obtain a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Non-Profit and have a career in corporate marketing. She will go on to represent Contra Costa County at the Miss California competition in Fresno this June. This program is an official local preliminary to the Miss America Organization.
“Wow! What a whirlwind of a weekend! I am absolutely thrilled to be the first Miss Contra Costa County in ten years!” says Laird. “This is a dream come true!”
Her platform is “Get Ticked Off at Lyme Disease!” and was inspired by her diagnosis with Lyme Disease back in 2010. As Miss Contra Costa County 2015, her goals include making sure that everyone is aware of the disease and steps to properly prevent it in our community.

“Thank you to all of the contestants who made this experience so joyful and for voting me Miss Congeniality! What an honor! I love all of you so dearly!” says Laird.
Miss Contra Costa County 2015’s court included 1st runner up Rachel Garcia who performed a monologue to “Phenomenal Woman,” by Maya Angelou. Miss Contra Costa County also crowned their first Miss Contra Costa County’s Outstanding Teen, Hannah Rose, who performed a contemporary dance to, “Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self.” 1st runner up in the Teen category was Claryssa Wilson, who sang, “Reflections.” Semi-finalists included Nikki Rosero, Megan Stevenson, Gabrielle Lucero and Ana Wilkinson.

“I was honored to be able to bring such an amazing program back to Contra Costa County after being gone for 10 years. The judges had an exceptional group of young ladies and I knew they were going to have a hard time only picking one.” says executive director, Paula Gross. “I can’t wait to work with Angela and Hannah this year and see them on stage at Miss California.”

The phases of competition include a private interview before a panel of judges, on-stage judging in talent, presence and poise in evening wear, lifestyle and fitness and on-stage question.
**The Miss Contra Costa County Scholarship Organization was brought back after 10 years on hiatus and is a part of the Miss California/Miss America System.
