New Ohlone School Groundbreaking Event This Month
Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 20.

The community is invited to gather at to celebrate the start of construction for the school’s new facilities.
The groundbreaking event for the first phase will start at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
With and schools having been rebuilt in recent years, Ohlone is Hercules’ oldest public school grounds. Students have been taught in portable classrooms there for over 30 years.

Phase one of construction will include a new building for first and second grade classrooms, an administration office and library. It will be built on the existing playground. Phases two and three involve demolishing buildings, and in the third phase, new kindergarten and daycare facilities will be built.
The first phase of construction will take an estimated 16 months.

During construction, the parking lot at Ohlone Park will be closed. Access to the dog park and soccer fields will be for foot traffic only.
