Pair Arrested In El Sobrante Murder
The 22-year-old victim was shot dead Wednesday night in a residential driveway.

EL SOBRANTE, CA – Two homicide suspects were arrested less than 24 hours after the 22-year-old victim was found shot in an El Sobrante driveway, according to officials.
Anthony Gaines, 22, of Richmond and 57-year old Judy Barkas of El Sobrante were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of murder and conspiracy charges, each held in lieu of $2 million bail, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said Thursday afternoon.
The male victim, not yet identified pending family notification, was shot and killed Wednesday night. He was found at about 10:46 p.m. in the driveway of a home on the 4800 block of San Pablo Dam Road by deputies responding to a shooting call, officials said.

Arriving deputies found the man in the driveway, and, despite attempting CPR and having the fire department and an ambulance assisting, he was declared deceased at the scene, the agency said. An autopsy Thursday morning confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
Detectives are attempting to establish an exact motive in the case, but did say the individuals were acquainted with each other and "appear to have an ongoing dispute," according to the sheriff's office.
