Police Aid 'Unstable' Man, Suicide Averted At Walnut Creek BART

After lengthy delays, trains resumed operations in both directions, officials said.

WALNUT CREEK, CA – Police this afternoon saved the life of a reportedly suicidal man on the platform of the Walnut Creek BART station, an incident that began around 1:30 p.m. and caused a brief station closure and delays in both directions.

"We held trains out of the station while police spoke to the unstable patron," said Alicia Trost, BART communications department manager. "By 2:15 p.m., we had him safe in custody, and train service resumed."

The delays were first announced on social media at 1:41 p.m. BART police did not initially disclose the nature of the incident.

"There is a major delay on the Antioch Line in the Antioch and SFO directions due to earlier police activity at Walnut Creek station," the agency reported on social media at about 2:10 p.m.
