Pinole Man Arrested For Meth: Police

Police have been seen cracking down on criminal activity at Pinole Valley Park. A Neighborhood Watch meeting was held last week by residents

PINOLE, CA — A 28-year-old Pinole man was arrested Wednesday morning for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. It happened in Pinole Valley Park.

According to a social media posting by Pinole Police, "While conducting a self-initiated security check at Pinole Valley Park, Officer Dalao contact a subject sleeping in a vehicle." The man gave consent to search his vehicle prior to the discovery of the meth and pipe, according to police.

Just last week a Neighborhood Watch meeting was held by nearby residents about problems at Pinole Valley Park, according to Tony Gutierrez, who hosted the meeting. Three members of the police department attended the meeting, which Gutierrez describes as "very instructive."

The meeting was organized because of concerns about people using the park. Gutierrez lives nearby and says that it "has become a breeding ground for unsavory activities. I have found everything except needles to date. While I am a firm advocate to not criminalize poverty and the homeless, the parking lot to Pinole Valley Park has become a day camp for the homeless. I have seen tents, RV's and people living out of their cars."

Gutierrez says that he witnessed another arrest at the park last Thursday.
