Pinole Police Understaffed: Letter To The Editor
The head of the local police association expresses concerns about public safety and the safety of officers.

PINOLE, CA — The head of the Pinole Police Employees Association sent a letter to the mayor and city council regarding staffing on June 6, 2017, and its impact on public safety and the safety of officers.
That letter is once again being circulated. It was posted, without its original date, then removed from the Pinole For Fair Government Facebook page. PPEA opposes Measure P.
Patch is publishing the letter, as it has become an issue in the political campaign. Patch welcomes a response from the mayor and city council regarding this matter:

Mayor and Council-
The PPEA has grave concerns about the safety of this community. Police Department staffing has fallen to levels so unsustainable that for two nights this past weekend we had a shift with one Sergeant and one patrolman covering the City of Pinole. This has occurred several times this year! This situation is unsafe for the officers left exposed without back up and leaves the community endangered!

What are you "The Council" doing about it?
What actions will you take to hire and to retain officers and dispatchers?
What will you say after "the unthinkable" happens?
