Point Pinole: Prescribed Burns Planned
Expect to see smoke on these days. Several fire departments are participating in the training exercise.

PINOLE AND HERCULES, CA — You can expect to see smoke coming from the Point Pinole area on June 25 and again on June 28. The East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department will conduct controlled burns to increase biodiversity, control noxious weeds, enhance wildlife habitat, and protect against large wildland fires.
The planned burns will only be conducted if weather conditions are right and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) gives its approval. All prescribed burn projects are conducted under specific weather and fuel conditions to minimize any negative impacts.
The burns will be used as a multi-agency training exercise involving East Bay Regional Park District, Alameda County Fire Department, Richmond Fire, Berkeley Fire Department, and the Piedmont Fire Department.
