Police Arrest Multiple Suspects After Tuesday Brawl

An officer encountered a fight between two 14-year-old girls and a 39-year-old woman on Sycamore Avenue, east of Refugio Valley Road.

Police arrested a number of suspects involved in a brawl on Tuesday afternoon in Hercules after some of them tried to flee in a vehicle and nearly crashed, police said. Hercules police reported that at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday an officer encountered a fight between two 14-year-old girls and a 39-year-old woman on Sycamore Avenue, east of Refugio Valley Road.

When the officer failed to disrupt the scuffle with verbal commands, the officer attempted to apprehend one of the teenage girls and handcuff her. But the fight continued, with the other juvenile still swinging at the partially restrained suspect and the officer, police said.

When the officer switched to handcuffing that juvenile instead, the two other suspects and a 25-year-old man standing nearby got into a vehicle and tried to flee, police said. The male driver drove through a red traffic signal, heading west on Sycamore Avenue.

Hollister and Thomas were booked into Martinez Detention Facility. The teenage girl in the car was Hollister’s daughter, according to police. Officers determined that she had been influenced by her mother and was the least involved party in the incident. The other teen, who had already been taken into custody, was arrested on suspicion of battery and resisting and delaying an officer.
