Realtor Discovers Remnants of Pot Grow Operation in Hercules House

The home was declared by Hercules public works employees to be unsafe for habitation.

Police were made aware on Monday of a Hercules home that was being used as a marijuana grow operation, according to police. At 2:23 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Hercules Avenue, where a tenant had allegedly cultivated marijuana and modified the home’s electrical system to do so.

Police said a realtor informed them of the grow operation. After scheduling an in-person appraisal, the realtor determined that a tenant who rented the home in July or August was using it to grow marijuana. Police said the tenant vacated the home’s premises prior to the appraisal.

The main power had been tapped into and a secondary electrical panel was added upstairs. Only remnants of marijuana were found, police said. The home was declared by Hercules public works employees to be unsafe for habitation. Police did not provide further details on the incident or the suspect.
