Richmond Man Arrested in Alleged Car Theft, Auto Burglaries

An officer was conducting extra patrols on Diamond Head Passage in Corte Madera after a number of vehicle break-ins when he spotted the man.

A Richmond man was arrested in Corte Madera Saturday after he was found in a stolen car containing stolen property, police said Sunday.

A Central Marin police officer stopped Robert Bilbrey, a 26-year-old Richmond resident, around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday after he was seen loading items from a vehicle into a black Toyota Corolla, according to police. The officer was conducting extra patrols on Diamond Head Passage in Corte Madera after a number of vehicle break-ins and two vehicle thefts occurred in the East Corte Madera area, police said.

After seeing Bilbrey, the officer determined that the Corolla was one of the vehicles that had been reported stolen recently. Bilbrey was stopped after he was seen getting into the stolen car. A search of the vehicle turned up several items stolen property thought to have been taken from around the Bay Area, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
