Rope Rescue: Vehicle Plunges 300 Feet in Rollover Crash

PINOLE, CA — One person had to be extricated from a vehicle that rolled approximately 300 ft down an embankment Tuesday morning.

It happened at the westbound on ramp to I-80 from Cummings Skyway. The first Pinole Fire Department truck, E75, arrived at the scene around 11:15 a.m. and quickly called for reinforcements.

"Crews were able to successfully extricate and retrieve the solo occupant via low angle rope rescue operations," Pinole firefighters report in a written statement.

There's no update on the condition of the driver.
