Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest After Officer Discovers $7,000 in Cash, Cocaine & Marijuana

Officers later served a warrant at Ivan Torres' home in San Pablo and found an additional $4,000 in cash, along with evidence of drug sales.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night an Oakland CHP officer stopped a Chevy Impala for speed on Frontage Road near West Grand Avenue in Oakland.

The officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle and conducted a search. During that search the officer located approximately $7,000 in cash, 100 grams of cocaine valued at approximately $6,000 and approximately 27 grams of marijuana. The driver of the Impala, Ivan Torres, 24, of San Pablo was taken into custody and booked into the North County Jail.

On Wednesday, CHP Oakland officers served a warrant as a result of that traffic stop on Torres’ residence and located an
additional $4,000 in cash and additional evidence of drug sales. Torres now faces multiple charges relating to drug possession and sales.
