Transient Found Sleeping in Stolen Truck on Christmas, Police say
A transient on probation for vehicle theft was found sleeping in a stolen vehicle on Christmas Day in Hercules, authorities say.

HERCULES, CA - A transient on probation for vehicle theft was found sleeping in a stolen vehicle on Christmas Day in Hercules, according to police.
An officer spotted a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with a front license plate on the rear bumper at 1:21 p.m. Sunday.
On further investigation, the officer saw the vehicle's ignition had been tampered with and a man was sleeping inside. After running the vehicle identification number, the officer determined the vehicle had been reported stolen Nov. 11.

John Jewett, 48, was arrested and allegedly found to be in possession of two stolen credit cards, police said.
