Two Separate Reports Of Persons Under BART Trains Tuesday Night
One individual died at a Berkeley station; another at Embarcadero hospitalized. Service was disrupted at both stops.

The Downtown Berkeley BART station reopened Tuesday night about three hours after a person died after reportedly being under a train, BART officials said.
A BART dispatcher said a report of a person under a train at the station came in around 6:35 p.m. The station is located at 2160 Shattuck Ave. and was closed at about 6:50 p.m., according to the dispatcher.
BART police, fire crews, medical personnel and Alameda County coroner’s bureau responded to the scene, BART officials said.

At about 7:15 p.m., a BART police watch commander confirmed that the person was deceased, according to BART officials. Trains did not stop at the Downtown Berkeley station and single-tracked through the station during the closure, the dispatcher said.
The station reopened at about 10:10 p.m., according to BART officials.

Normal service was restored to the Richmond line in the Fremont direction though passengers were advised to expect residual delays, BART officials said.
The Embarcadero BART station in San Francisco, meanwhile, reopened Tuesday night after a person was reportedly under a train, transit agency officials said.
BART received reports of a person under a train at about 8:55 p.m. The station at 298 Market St. was closed shortly before 9 p.m., BART officials said.
BART police and San Francisco fire crews responded to the scene, BART officials said.
The person was taken off the tracks and transported to a hospital, though BART officials did not have an update on the individual’s condition.
During the closure, trains were running through the Embarcadero station but were not stopping there, BART officials said.
The station reopened shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to agency officials.
