The Pinole Planning Commission on Monday will consider allowing a use permit for the PetSmart store on Fitzgerald Drive to operate a veterinary clinic. The 1,600-square-foot pet hospital would provide services from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. It would include surgery, recovery and reception areas.
City staff recommend approval with some conditions, such as restricting parking for three new employees to a designated area and getting city review before any changes to building signage. The clinic, to be operated by Banfield Pet Hospital, also would include pet training and adoption services. There would be 10 to 15 training classes per week and a limited number of adoptions.
The commission meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, 2131 Pear St.
